Sound familiar?

You already know which windows are the problem.

It's the one in the bedroom that fogs up between the panes. The slider that lets the draft in. The frame you wipe mould off every February. The bedroom where you hear every truck on the highway. Here's what we do about each.

Windows

Casement, awning, slider, picture and custom shapes, single- and double-hung. All built to order on the Island with Low-E sealed glass. Double or triple pane depending on the room, the wall it faces and what you want to spend. A well-sealed unit also cuts road and neighbour noise noticeably; most people notice it the first night.

Patio and sliding doors

The door that sticks, lets the rain in at the sill, or leaks cold air at the latch. Replaced with a door that glides on one finger and seals when you close it.

Entry doors

Insulated fibreglass and steel doors, sized to the opening, with a proper threshold and weather-strip. No more daylight around the edges.

Island-made since 1977

Why we install one brand and only one

Most window companies install whatever the supplier is pushing that month. We install Thermoproof, built in Cobble Hill since 1977 by the Island's longest-running locally owned window maker. That decision does four things for you:

  • The window was designed for this weather. Sideways rain, salt air and six months of damp. Not a prairie or a desert.
  • It comes from 40 minutes down the highway. Shorter lead times and no cross-border surprises. A high share of Canadian content stays in Canada.
  • Our crew works with it every day. One product line means our measures are exact and our installs are routine. Routine is what you want from the person cutting into your wall.
  • If anything ever needs service, the factory is a phone call and a short drive away.

01 · 45 minutes

We measure

Every opening, inside and out. We check the sills for rot and tell you what we find, even when it's nothing.

02 · Within 2 days

Your quote and a rebate check

Each window with its energy rating and which rebates it qualifies for, confirmed before anything is ordered. Good for 30 days.

03 · 1–2 days on site

We install

Old units out, new units flashed, sealed, insulated and trimmed. We finish each opening the same day we open it. Retrofit insert Your existing frame and trim stay. The new window is built to fit inside the old frame and sealed to it. Less disruption, lower cost. Right for frames that are sound. Full-frame Everything comes out to the studs. New frame, new flashing and a new sill pan go in, then new trim. More work, and the only fix when the old frame has rot, leaks, or is the original aluminum. Not sure? Choose retrofit and we confirm at the free measure, window by window.

FAQ

Common questions

What area do you serve?

Duncan to Qualicum Beach, and nothing beyond it: Duncan and the Cowichan Valley, Chemainus, Ladysmith, Cassidy, Cedar, Nanaimo, Lantzville, Nanoose Bay, Parksville and Qualicum Beach. We keep it tight so we can get to you fast and come back fast if you ever need us.

How much does window replacement cost?

It depends on how many windows, their sizes and styles, the glass, and whether the old frames come out. For an estimate, measure your windows and send us the list online; a real person prices it and replies within one business day. For the firm price, book a free 45-minute measure: you get a quote that's good for 30 days. If you go ahead, 50% is due before we order your windows and the balance on completion.

Can I get a rebate on new windows in BC?

Often, yes, if the new windows meet the program's energy rating and you follow the program's order of steps. We check which rebates you qualify for before you order and give you the invoice and product details the claim asks for; you submit the claim.

Will new windows make the house quieter?

Yes, and it’s often the first thing people mention after an install. Old single-pane and failed double-pane units let sound straight through. A properly sealed double- or triple-pane window with a tight frame cuts traffic, neighbour and rain noise noticeably. If one side of the house faces a road, tell us at the measure and we’ll spec that side for sound.

How long does installation take?

Most homes take one or two days once the windows arrive from Cobble Hill. You get your install date when you order. We're in and out, we clean up every day, and you're never left with an open hole overnight.

What warranty do you offer?

A 5-year installation warranty on the work. If a window we installed leaks, sticks or lets in a draft because of how it was installed, we fix it at no charge. The window itself carries the manufacturer's warranty; we go over those terms with you at the measure.

Do you replace doors too?

Yes. Patio doors, sliding doors and entry doors, usually in the same visit as the windows, so the whole house gets done in one go.
